Charleville Art Studio at Home is a 10-week online extracurricular art program for children and young people from Kindy through to Year 12, created for families who may not be able to access an after-school art program in person.

A Paddock to Paintbrush initiative by Charleville Art Studio, the program brings meaningful art learning into the home through Google Classroom, allowing students to explore, create and develop their artistic skills at their own pace.

What will students do?

Across the 10-week program, students will engage with developmentally appropriate art experiences including:

• 🎨 Interactive art activities
• 🎥 Step-by-step video tutorials and demonstrations
• 🖌️ Creative challenges and experimentation
• 📚 Artist and artwork research
• ✏️ Skill development and technique exploration
• 📓 Art journal activities
• 💡 Opportunities to develop and follow their own creative ideas

The program is process-based, meaning the focus isn't simply on producing a finished artwork. Students are encouraged to experiment, make choices, reflect, problem-solve and develop their own creative practice.

Four cohorts, one creative journey

Content is designed specifically for each developmental stage:

🌱 Kindy Artists
Playful exploration, sensory experiences, mark-making, colour and creative discovery.

🎨 Junior Artists | Years 1–3
Foundational skills, experimentation, creative thinking and growing independence.

🖌️ Senior Artists | Years 4–6
Developing techniques, investigating ideas, creative decision-making and artistic expression.

✨ High School Artists | Years 7–12
Greater independence, artistic investigation, research, refinement and developing an individual creative practice.

While activities are developmentally appropriate for each cohort, students are always encouraged to follow their own ideas and make the work their own.

This is an online program delivered through Google Classroom.

After enrolment, you'll receive a digital Welcome & Access Guide with everything you need to get started, including:

• How to access Google Classroom
• Your program start information
• What to expect from the 10-week program
• How the weekly activities are structured
• Information about your child's cohort
• What materials you'll need
• Helpful information for parents and students

Work at your own pace

The program is designed to fit around family life. Students can access their activities from home and work through the creative experiences at a pace that suits them.

Do we need to purchase a resource pack?

No! Resource packs are completely optional.

Your child can participate in and complete the full 10-week program using suitable art materials you already have at home.

However, we've curated Junior and Senior Resource Packs containing materials selected to complement the program, and some of these materials will be used during the video lessons and activities.

Resource packs can be purchased separately if you'd like to have a dedicated collection of materials ready for your child's creative journey.

Who is this program for?

Charleville Art Studio at Home is designed for children and young people from Kindy to Year 12.

The program is particularly suited to families who:

• Live in regional or rural areas
• Don't have access to a regular after-school art program
• Want structured creative learning at home
• Have a child who loves art and wants to develop their skills
• Want to encourage creativity without requiring a weekly trip to an art class

Murweh Shire families

50 places in this program have been funded for eligible Murweh Shire residents through the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), through Murweh Shire Council.

Families outside Murweh Shire

Families living outside Murweh Shire are welcome to participate in the full 10-week program for:
