August — Limited Palette Painting & Colour Theory

Saturday 1st August. 5:30pm-7:30pm

Discover the power of colour through this adult technique class focused on colour theory, paint mixing, and developing cohesive colour palettes. Students will explore how artists use limited palettes to create harmony, mood, and balance within their artwork while strengthening their understanding of colour relationships.

Through guided exercises and painting studies, participants will learn practical colour mixing techniques and experiment with creating artwork using a restricted range of colours to better understand tone, contrast, and visual cohesion.

• Warm and cool colour relationships
• Mixing cohesive colour palettes
• Understanding tone and saturation
• Creating harmony using limited palettes
• Building depth and contrast with fewer colours
• Acrylic painting studies and colour exercises
• Developing confidence in colour selection

Participants are encouraged to bring their own art journal or visual diary to record colour studies, palette experiments, and technique notes throughout the class. Journals are also available to purchase in the studio for $10 each, and existing students are welcome to continue using their studio journals.

All other tools and materials are provided.
